Lessons Learned Courtesy of a First Semester Grad Journalist

1. Nothing is ever really finished, it’s just due. (I think I stole that from someone).

2. Be humble. The harshest criticism can be the fuel to persistence.

3. No matter how great technology becomes, it’s never reliable.

4. Make sure you hit the record button. It’s not as obvious as it seems…

5. It doesn’t have to be perfect.

6. Seriously.

7. Get over yourself.

8. Seriously.

9. People will not always email you back. And it sucks.

10. You don’t need experience, you just need the desire to learn.

11. Be nice. No matter what.

12. Misery loves company and this applies to a group of stressed out grads.

13. Be grateful.

14. Never give up.

Dream Act Really: very blessed day…got there early and got great interviews with students and even got to hear Assemblyman Gil Cedillo speak. Oh, and Fox 11 news was there too! Cool, cool first news conference :)

Protest I went to where activists were calling on China to stop repatriating North Korean Refugees. Hot day, sweat trickling down my back, talked with an amazing missionary, got free kimbap, got a ticket, got lost driving home and another great day for a journalist :)
