let ourselves build up hope, just to be disappointed over and over again? I think it’s because we want to believe that what we’ve invested our whole hearts in isn’t wasted. We want to believe that every moment that we said, “You first” was worth the sacrifice to just believe that one day if not tomorrow or even years from now there will be change. We scrape the deep corners of our hearts for the belief that tomorrow will be today and we refuse to relent our battered hope because though we’ll never admit it, we’ve started to accept that the best, the deserving will never find us. And we resign our expectations to hope. And even if we ran out of reasons and started making up some of our own it wouldn’t matter because that is what hope is. It’s a dream that doesn’t give in to logic.

Samantha:I can't believe my life revolves around a man. On what planet did I allow that to happen?
Charlotte:You love him.
Samantha:Does that mean saying his name fifty times more a day than I say my own? Does it mean worrying about him and his needs before me and mine? Is it all about the other person? Is that love? Even this ring. I wanted to buy this for myself. That meant something to me. To be able to do that. Then, he buys it for me.
Charlotte:Because he knew how much you loved it.
Samantha:Yes. But now, every time I look down at it... I see him. Not me.
